Ayesha Firdous, a current PSTP research year student, was recently awarded an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship to develop a project called NeighborCook. The goal of NeighborCook is to create a platform that empowers home cooks from immigrant, refugee, and low-income communities to become self-employed by selling their homecooked meals. The project will provide individuals with training and access to certified community kitchens where they can cook meals and sell them to the wider Pittsburgh community through public-access luncheons, farmers’ markets, and other means. Ayesha’s project partner is Community Kitchen Pittsburgh.
