Prospective PSTP applicants must first apply to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) and complete the UPSOM supplemental application.
Important Note: The AAMC Fee Assistance Program helps those who, without financial aid, would be unable to apply to medical schools, by providing discounted fees, complimentary access to the MSAR online database, and free MCAT Official Prep products. Applicants must receive an interview invitation from the UPSOM Admissions Committee before being permitted to access and complete the PSTP online supplemental application.
Besides completing the PSTP supplemental application, applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from scientists who are conversant with the applicant’s training, previous research experience, and commitment to a career as a physician-scientist.
Additionally, a bachelor's degree or equivalent must be completed prior to matriculating.
